Location: New York Stuart Fuchs is a multi-instrumentalist and educator based in Buffalo, N.Y. He began playing the guitar as a young boy when he would take his father’s guitar into the wilderness and try to imitate the sounds of the birds. Stuart is thrilled to have the opportunity to share this playful approach during his breakout and electives this week. Stuart studied the Classical Guitar at the University of Buffalo, where he was awarded the Gherhee Scholarship for musical performance. He plays music throughout the Western New York region in a variety of contexts from Jazz and Classical, Reggae and Afro-Pop, to Multi-Media and Experimental settings. Stuart has been a teaching artist on the roster of Young Audiences of W.N.Y. for five years, where he performs assembly programs and facilitates workshops to students of all ages. In 2002 Stuart taught Yoga and Music Improvisation at the Pura Vida Yoga Center in Costa Rica, where he also performed with Grammy Award winning guitarist Edin Solis (Ruben Blades). Stuart is currently the music teacher at the Tapestry Charter School where he teaches Ukulele, Hand Drumming, and MFP style improvisation to grades K-7. |
